Background & Philosophy
Dr. Ondrula is dual board-certified in general surgery and colorectal surgery. He treats patients with colon cancer, diverticulitis, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, and benign and malignant anal issues.
One of the first surgeons in the country to perform minimally invasive colon surgery, Dr. Ondrula now teaches and mentors other surgeons. He has performed more than 2,000 minimally invasive and laparoscopic colon resections. Intuitive Surgical, maker of the da Vinci surgical system, has selected Dr. Ondrula as one of its robotics surgery experts who teaches advanced techniques to other surgeons. He practices at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital, which is one of a select number of mentor sites in the region.
